Welcome to our meeting #14. October is Vocational Service month in the Rotary Calendar. Vocational Service focuses on
  • Adherence to and promotion of the highest ethical standards in all occupations, including fair treatment of employers, employees, associates, competitors and the public.
  • The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, not just those that are pursued by Rotarians.
  • The contribution of your vocational talents to solving the problems of society and meeting the needs of the community.

The first meeting in October should focus on examining the second Avenue of Service which includes The Four Way Test and the Declaration of Rotarians in Business and Professions.  After familiarizing yourself with these service areas, consider sharing some ideas you have for projects that we could pursue during the remaining year. The Rotaract Youth Leadership Conference was a success. The Crystal Ballroom was filled with young energy and a buzz of excitement. Dr. Rivera challenged attendees to “build a house” using some tools that he distributed. The attendees certainly rose to the challenge and demonstrated the resourcefulness and creativity of our youth. They also learned about personality types and I am once again convinced that I am a “J”.  There are some pictures of the conference on our Rotary Club’s Facebook page.

Treasurer Zeny has been working diligently to get our financial structure in order. This has required extra effort on her part. I ask that when you see her around, please share your appreciation. Treasurer Zeny and/or Treasurer-Elect Goody will be contacting you shortly regarding your Rotary dues. Be expecting an invoice shortly, if you have not already received one.

Attendance is a very important responsibility as a Rotary member. As we are required to submit an attendance record to the District Governor’s office, you have been asked by Club Secretary Kris to send her an email to note your commitment to reading our meeting notes every week.  Please mark your calendar – we will hold our first face-to-face meeting on October 17, stay tuned for details from Secretary Kris.
