Greeting #25
January 9, 2015

Hafa Adai, Pago Bay Guam Rotarians!

Happy New Year!

This evening was a busy one for Guam Rotarians. The Rotaract Club of the Marianas held its Mid-Year Induction ceremony and January General Meeting and the Rotary Club of Guam Sunrise held a signing ceremony and dinner with the Formosa Happiness Rotary Club. I planned to attend these important events but left work with a debilitating migraine that had build up throughout the day.

Please be reminded that Joint Rotary Weekend is fast approaching – January 17 and 18, 2015. All Rotarians and their immediate families (spouse and children) are invited to participate. This is a great opportunity to meet and network with other Guam Rotarians and have fun.  Here is a rundown of the latest notes from the joint Rotary Presidents meeting:

January 17: Softball Tournament and Friendship Games from 10 am to 2 pm at Tiyan Field. President Dave Beaver of the Rotary Club of Guam Sunrise has proposed to partner with our Club to form a team for the Softball Tournament. This is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 17 at the Tiyan Softball Field from 10 am to 3 pm. President Dave has offered to coordinate the team, please contact him at 477-8605. Details of the Softball Tournament are found in the Home Page Downloads section of this page (right bottom side). Food will be catered and the cost will be divided among all Clubs based on headcount submitted. Prizes will be donated by Clubs ($250 each from RC Guam and RC Tumon Bay; $100 each from all other Clubs). The prize money will go to the winner’s charity of choice. T-Shirts will be divided per Club’s order quantity, our club will need to select a color (RCTB-Blue, RCNG-Green, RCG-Gold). Quotes are pending.

January 18: Volunteer Fair (in partnership with the PDN) at the Micronesia Mall Center Court from 1 pm to 4 pm. The purpose of this Fair is to increase awareness about Rotary and to provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about Non-Profit Organizations and volunteerism, sign up and volunteer for projects. There will be tables for Rotary Club promotions and each Club will be invited to give a short presentation on stage as well as the NPOs participating in the event (limited to 15 NPOs).  A contest for middle and high school students to sign up and volunteer for projects that interest them will be held. Rotary will give a cash prize of $500 split among the Clubs to the school with the most number of registered student volunteers on that day.

I would really appreciate your participation in this Joint Rotary Day event. Please let me or any of our Club Officers know how you wish to participate. We welcome your participation!!!
