Greeting #27
January 30, 2015

Hafa Adai, Pago Bay Guam Rotarians!

The Joint Rotary Weekend event looked like a lot of fun! We thank Director Anita’s son-in-law Terrence for his participation on the joint softball team with RC-Sunrise and Rotaract. I heard he was great! I hear there are more practice sessions that will ensue from this interaction. So, it’s not too late to join in on the fun, just for fun!

The information Fair at the Micronesia Mall was also very well attended with all Guam Rotary Clubs present. This Fair was a joint sponsored event to promote non-profit, service organizations and was an event geared towards encouraging our youth to become aware of and engaged in service learning activities.

January is Rotary Awareness Month, there are two activities I would like to endeavor on:

  1. Our Board would like to feature our Club members and ask that you please submit a short narrative about yourself and why you joined Rotary (100-200 words). Please include a picture to share. These will be posted on our webpage. I ask that you send these to Club Secretary John who will compile this information. Please submit before February 13.
  2. I would like each member to recommend a speaker who is willing to contribute a narrative to our Club meetings. The narrative should be 300-750 words and should be aligned with our topics of addressing the impoverished, reducing family violence, increase education and entrepreneurship opportunities in our villages and how we might assist the homeless youth and children.

Leading an E-Club is more challenging than I was led to believe. I need every member to demonstrate their existence by providing input and feedback on the questions posed in my messages, otherwise, we lose interaction and the uniqueness that make us an E-Club. So, I’m hoping to hear that members have responded to the call for information. Alone, I cannot be successful at building membership or engaging in service activities or promoting the image of Rotary. I need every member to be involved.

We are in our seventh month since being chartered and look forward to strengthening this organization with those who see the value of service to our community. Service above self.

IMPORTANT AND URGENT: MEMBERSHIP DUES ARE BEING COLLECTED. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ARE UP TO DATE WITH YOUR PAYMENTS. YOU WILL BE RECEIVING A REMINDER AND FOLLOW UP MESSAGE FROM OUR TREASURER SOON, IF NOT ALREADY RECEIVED. PLEASE PAY YOUR DUES.

Other announcements:
RC Guam will celebrate it 75th Anniversary on April 18 at the Ypao Beach Park Amphitheater.

Yours in Rotary,
